Healthy travelling needn’t be hard – especially when you’re equipped with all of the information you need to know to ensure your skin, digestion and immunity stays vibrant and healthy from take-off to landing. Fresh off the plane from LA, Natalie and Marie share their top tips for keeping healthy in-flight.


Marie: If you want to reach your destination with your digestion in tow, it’s really important to pack your own healthy foodie staples to enjoy throughout your flight. This is something I do every time I travel without fail, as the food on the plane often includes large amounts of sodium and preservatives that do not agree with my skin or stomach!

Natalie: Our favourite things to bring on board include a batch of our Homemade Seed Crackers, Cacao and Coconut Oat Bites, raw veggie crudités, ZenBunni Biodynamic Chocolate for desert and Pip & Nut almond butter sachets (though be careful not to open incase someone is announced to be allergic on the flight). The most important thing when travelling for me is to keep my blood sugar levels stable which will help overcome any jetlag much more comfortably.

Both: For breakfast, we paired gluten free oats with a punnet of organic berries that we brought along with us and a sprinkling of desiccated coconut, cinnamon and organic goji berries. Our flight attendant was more than happy to provide us with cups of hot water – all that’s required to make a creamy, warming gluten and dairy free serving of superfood porridge.


Marie: Flying can really take its toll on the skin, with dryness, flakiness and dullness a common after effect of air travel, however, there’s lots that we do before, during and after our flights to ensure our skin doesn’t suffer. Pre-flight, I make sure to stay as hydrated as possible, taking special care to get in 2-3 litres of water a day enhanced with detoxifying chlorella for a few days beforehand, including the day of my flight.

Natalie: During my flight I have on hand Kahina's Toning Mist for hydration and protection (it goes on about every 30 minutes) and Twelve for keeping lips soft and supple. I always have some Motherwort blended with Ashwaghanda tincture – a tonic for the nervous system help restore calm and induce a state of peace and tranquillity within the body and skin. The perfect natural remedy to quell any in-flight anxiety which otherwise is so noticeable at dulling your glow.

Marie: Post-flight, I always apply a hydrating face-mask to give my skin a potent dose of nutrients and moisture when it needs it most. Pratima's various masks are my skin rehabilitators of choice. Keeping up with the water intake, I like to also up my dose of healthy fats such as avocado, coconut, nuts and seeds for a few days after my flight. I’ve found that doing so is an amazing natural way to restore lost moisture in the skin.
